Anti-Semitic messages rife in Occupy Movement
Israelis are expressing increasing concern over the significant numbers of people in the various “Occupy” Wall Street protests expressing extremely Anti-Semitic messages.
For instance, this L.A. teacher taking part the Occupy protest blames the Jews for economic ills and says “the Zionist Jews need to be run out of this country:”
There were concerns Monday night from U.S. Jewish leaders that some of the protesters were expressing anti-Semitic messages. Witnesses say they’ve seen demonstrators carrying signs that read, “Jews Control Wall Street” and similar statements circulating online.
In Canada, large numbers marched with the “anti-zionist” contingent whose flagstaffs had CAIA written on them – Coalition Against Israeli Apartheid. Representatives from the teachers’ union who were interviewed also mentioned in that their union is planning to vote in favour of a Boycott and Divest from Israel campaign in the next few weeks. Click over to Blazing Cat Fur for more on this and Michael Coren’s interview with Kathy Shaidle on the anti-semitism rife among the protesters there.
Numerous anti-Semitic incidents have been reported and caught on tape during “Occupy Wall Street” demonstrations in New York as Jews were blamed for the turmoil in America’s financial markets. In addition, anti-Israel signs were raised against “Israel’s occupation of Gaza”. The American Nazi Party has expressed its solidarity with Occupy Wall Street and commends the large number of people in the protests taking on the “Judeo-capitalists”.
One such video captures an African-American protester accusing the Jews of taking over America. “The smallest group in America controls the money, media and all other things. The fingerprints belong to the Jewish bankers. I am against Jews who rob America. They are one percent who control America. President Obama is a Jewish puppet. The entire economy is Jewish. Every federal judge in the East Coast is Jewish.”
Among the signs that could be seen in the protest were, “Gaza supports the occupation of Wall Street”, “Hitler’s Bankers”, and a sign urging people to Google the following: Wall St. Jews, Jewish billionaires, Jews & Federal Reserve Bank. In addition, the anti-Israel group Code Pink: Women for Peace was spotted.
The Emergency Committee for Israel, a Jewish-run Republican organization, released a video highlighting other anti-Semitic incidents at the “Occupy wall St.” events, and urging President Barack Obama to take a firm stand against such hateful rhetoric.
Yediot Ahronot called the anti-Semitic outbursts “hard to watch,” and as an Israeli commenter said, “It’s just like pre-World War II Nazi Germany. You think blood libels can’t happen in America?”
It has been pointed out by many media commentators that the openly anti-Semitic remain but a small portion of those participating in the Occupy Wall St. movement. However, others have noted that Nazi anti-Semitism started out as a fringe phenomenon in Germany before eventually defining that nation’s domestic agenda in the 1940s.
Israel Today Magazine notes that “More than the few Occupy Wall St. anti-Semites themselves, it is the lack of a clear and firm repudiation of their hateful rhetoric by the mainstream American media and political leaders that has a growing number of Israelis and Jews on edge.”

Antisemitism is still persisting, either on the right or the left. Furthermore in these confusing days Far Right -and Far left tend to speak the same language: I happened to read that American Nazist party has joined the protest as well !
What can I say ? In Italy Prime Minister is a ( supposed to be ) good friend of Israel and very close to Bibi but in spite of this he was caught by inadvertently open microphones whilst telling jokes on holocaust victims !
I am still personally receiving anti semitic comments and most harmful from people within my trade union organization.
The saddest experience was when I decided with a Jew friend of mine of testing people mood “on the road” acting like Italian Premier i.e. telling the same joke about Jews.
Just a little minority showed disgust or disappointment .
Finally another point to be taken for your evaluation : same people showed same hate toward Arabs, Gipsies and Homosexuals – difference being on the fact that Jews are conidered usually well-off, smarts and cultured but this doed not help them so much with Anti-semitic consideration !

What Israelis “are shocked”?
Anyway, whats new about anti-semiitism in the world during bad economic times – and for much of the world outside of Israel, this is a time of economic disaster. The United States is in a terrible position.
Conservatives and liberals, have always found common cause in being anti-Jewish.
Why do you thiink tht Jews vote for the Democratic Party generally? Because it has been the Republicans, the so-called right wing in the US that have always been the Jew haters.
And nobody has changed.
This is not new – its the same old story.
And imagine how perturbed the Jew haters are in America and Europe – because Israel in an economic boom.

I plan to contact my lawmakers, including Governor Perry, today expressing my concerns about this issue.

Man, where to start. This is utterly unsurprising, it has been the far left in America for a long time now that is anti-jew and anti-israeli.
I think the far right (in America) is probably more pro-Israel than any other group since they are mainly extremely conservative christians.
The media is definitely trying to suppress this, but it comes with the territory when you have a leftist movement. For the record, I’m not sure how Nazism was ever proclaimed a far right movement. Look at what Nazi stands for, in German its initials are NSDAP, Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, for those that don’t speak German it means “National Socialist German Workers Party”. Its basically indistinguishable from communism, even down to the centrally planned economy geared for war production.

You want to compare anti-semitism from the conservative or the liberal side in America?
I am afraid you will be a in a very big disapointment funk.
Why are there Jewish country clubs? Jewish stcokbroking firms or specifically why did Goldman Sachs aris for example?
Right into tnto the 1970’s in fact what was the attitude of Fortine 500 companies towards Jews, Such as those bastions of Liberaliism the oil companies?
And Big Business? From Ford downwards “retsrictions” or outright discrimination.
And Jews have always been leaders in revolution, From the trade unions inthe US to teh civil righst movement.
Consrvative Christians are pro-Israel to the extent that thy belive an appocalypse is on the way – bit don’t confuse this for being friendly to Jews. They want the Jewish nation to disappear through the evil of evangelism.
But neither ideological side is friendly to the Jew. That is historical fact.
So stop making this into another conservative propaganda speech. Its nonsense.

The Occupy people have been putting a lot of effort into denying claims of antisemitism. I can’t say anything definitive about New York since I live on the other side of the country, but if the people involved in our local Occupy movement are any indication, it’s clearly antisemitic.
There are a lot of hangers on and the like who probably aren’t antisemitic, but when I look at who is organizing this thing in my town, it’s the usual list of Israel-hating antisemites.
This is part of the neo-progressive movement, which is made up of people who are either reflexively antisemitic (which they try to hide by claiming only to be anti-Israel as if there is a difference) or people unwilling to speak out against the movement’s antisemitism.
The Occupy movement could be dangerous, but I think it’s more likely to fall apart. There’s more pressure for it to explain what it wants, and as soon as the leadership actually starts to announce goals, the movement will start having problems. The people running this thing are far, far to the left of many of the people going to the protests and want things most Americans would reject.
I could be wrong though and am not taking this lightly.

In my view there is still a difference between Socialism properly said ( Social Democrat or comunist ) and Nazional socialism ( Nazism) in their attitude toward Jews. Ask Jews for it – on the right bar of this blog there is still a link to Ziyonist Socialism.
A lot of Jew proclaimed themselves Socialist ( including Golda Meir and founding fathers of Israel ) but never found a Jew proclaiming his Fascism or Nazism ( not considering of course Russian immigrants with uncertain Jewish roots ) true that among far left there is an unacceptable dose of Antisemitism but yet a considerable number of Jews. There is not any coscient Jew in Far Right org.
Antisemitism on far left is the result of a general adversion toward capitalism and being the Jews portrayed ( by same Jews most of the times – Marx, Trotzsky, Chomsky,Cohn Bendit … ) as naturally capitalist they are involved in a general hate toward capitalism.
Far Right antisemitism hates jew” in se et per se” – irrespective of his social position.
Having experienced both I can say that it is hard to make sophisticated distinctions – yet there is a difference.

Although the substitute teacher’s comments were simplistic, they were true. Groups who manipulate currencies tend to be made up of jews so it’s difficult to automatically disregard comments that blame our current debt problem to zionist jews when there are facts to support such a position. Our world has enough wealth to feed the whole population, why then are so many people without adequate supplies and goods? Because the current economic system withholds these goods in order to reap a profit.

This is horrifying even if not surprising.
For what it’s worth, I’ve read that both the American Nazi Party and the American Communist Party are supporting this thing.
I would like to think that the U.S. government won’t let this movement get dangerous. I hope I’m not just being naive.

Andrea you are correct.
But in the United States everything is political and many things are a mess there today.
And in the US people do not understand nuances. Things are either one way or the other.
People forget that when it comes to political uncertainty, neither the political right nor the political left are friendly to Jews.
But in the United States people love to pretend. Europe, as in Israel admit to reality.
It is constantly amusing to me how the troll relentlessly attacks America and accusing Americans like me of being simplistic and not understanding nuance while telling us how Europe “admits to reality” and has such a better understanding of the world, and how much more closely aligned to Europe Israel is.
Europe, which is a hotbed of anti-semistism and suffering from much deeper financial difficulties.

Ethan, good comment. Europe has a long history of anti-semitism which continues today unfortunately. Financially, Europe is a mess.

Jennifer, I imagine that like many protests and rallies there is a diversity of people out there. The Occupy folks seem quite disorganized and not so specific in their demands, and it seems that they are united by the desire to see “something” done. Unfortunately, there are those who are anti-semitic out there, too.
Jenn –most definitely those who are expressing extreme anti-semitism are in the minority. I think what worries people here are two things. The first is that it is very disturbing to see people theoretically out of the mainstream (e.g. teachers, professionals) willing to come out and make such statements publicly. This is what you used to see only from people marching with white sheets over their faces or ‘white power’ skinheads and so forth. You didn’t see such statements during the severe economic downturn of the early-mid 90s when there were protests and you didn’t see such anti-semitic and anti-Israel movements coalescing during the protests, for instance, against the 1st Gulf War in the middle of the economic downturn. And you definitely didn’t see it coming from people on the Left back then.
The second is that this country was built largely on socialist principles. There is a very visceral memory here of what happened with the leftist movements in eastern Europe and Russia — Jews were at the forefronts of those movements, embracing the concepts of equality, non-discrimination, and social support for everyone and, after utilizing their help (they were perhaps the original ‘useful idiots’) and gaining power, the first thing all those movements did was to have a purge of the Jews and institutionalize discrimination against them. In Stalin’s case, that purge was murdering and imprisoning tens of thousands of them. And more purges, oppression and discrimination occurred ‘68 in Poland, Hungary and other places, for instance, and in ‘73 and ‘77 in other places. So people here have seen the recent history of the very movements that claimed to stand for equality and all these good things and which the majority of the Jewish population strongly supported and was involved with turn on them.
People here are not just looking at these statements from the minority of the Occupy folks in isolation, they are looking at it in the context of the boycott and divest movement, the various other anti-Israel movements, the use of the anti-Semitic caricature posters used –but pulled after people became outraged –by some Labour candidates in the last U.K. election, etc all of which are coming out of the Left. And they are looking at it all through the lens of history.

Ethan I could care less about the United States or Europe.
The reality is that the United States is not acting to rectify the problems. There are major banks in the United States teetering in teh edge of disaster.
There are crises of immense proportion in fiscal, housing and consumer terms that has even the most optimistic assessment not judging a turnaround in the US before 2014. And a turnaround that will at best maintain the US where it is.
“Europe”is a very ignorant term – but typical of conservatives such as Hannity and otehrs who I am sure you are devoted to. Europe consists of individual countries.
Britain, Germany and France have all taken recent measures to rectify theirr problems – in manner that illustrates how cumbersome the American Federal system of government is in such a situation albeiit that it is superior in most other ways.
Recently a German minister said that America should mind its own business and take care of its own problems before diciuating to others.
Not only is the United Staes declining economicallly, but it is in a decline of standing and has eroded its moral stature as well.
Euorpean countriues like Israel do recognize reality compared to the United States. That is evident just from how governments in Europe are acting now and how Israel has avoided making economic errors and maintaining an economy thatis booming.
Europe is more closely aligned towards Israel in terms of culture, and especially Eastern European ways of life. Not the United States.
I have no idea Ethan if you are being stupid or are just ignorant – but I don’t think I have to educate you or anyone else on the sad history of Europe, and the Jews.
But this is and was not what I refer to.
To describe Europe as a “hotbed” of anti-semitism is laughable. But typical of conservatives in the United States What do you do? Calll “French fries” as “Liberty Fries” as was done in the US a few years ago?
Israelis fly to Europe frequently. And many do. Especially Italy in Western Europe.
Between Israel and all the couhtries of Europe – West and East – Israelis do not even need visas and can stay for three to six months without a problem.
The absolutely incredibly beautiful women of the Czech Republic are woth it alone.
Aside from air defense, Israel is most closely aligned with Europe. Not the United States.
The US tried to stop Israel from manufacturiing the tank for example, that is used by Israel today, the Merkava. The United Sates after negotiating with Israel, as it came to the point of decision, deliberately sudden withdrew.
That was a big lessonfor Israel. So Germany stepped in and today one the best engines are in Merkava tanks. Magirius Deutsch. Which counrry assists Israel in Mossad operations? The United States? Don’t make me laugh.
Germany does. Israeli agents cantravel under full German identity cover.
The European Union, since about three years ago now Israel’s biggest trading partner.
And so it goes.
Ethan, do notbelive the propaganda that is spread in the US about Europe.

I’ve lived in Germany and travelled extensively through Eastern Europe and I’m under no illusions about it. There is a lot of like, but they have DEEP problems.
I’ve been to the synagogue on Oranienburger strasse in Mitte Berlin that has to have vehicle barricades and armed guards while at churches there are no signs of security. I’ve been to the largest synagogue in Europe, in Budapest, which has airport style screenings to get into it because of threats while you can pretty much stroll into the palaces and places of government.
Ironically, on that same trip to Budapest, I was behind an Israeli going through customs screening who was hassled and detained for about 15 minutes while everone else with foreign passports simply walked through with a cursory stamp.
Europe has deep structural financial problems. The Eurozone is on the brink of collapse and split, reguardless of the money Germany citizens through taxes are pumping into bailouts for members who should have never been admitted in the firstplace. Germany, who’s capitol, Berlin has a structural unemployment rate of 20%. The eastern part of the country has never really been fully integrated and brought up to the standards of the Western part. Unemployment runs high, anti-semitism other xenophobia is returning. I remember seeing graffiti saying things like “Auslander RAUS” in Berlin and some other places in the East. That means “foreigners get out” btw if you don’t speak German like I do.
Don’t get me wrong, I love Germany and have friends in Berlin who I love to visit. But the place has its problems, so does the Eurozone, and EU member states. Keep in mind, in Germany the communist part has some seats in the Bundestag, and the NDP (neo nazi party) has won some local elections in the East, but has thus far not met the 5% threshold to get any national seats.

Well everyone has their own stories and are coloured by their experiences. There are many Israelis who because of their dark skins and looks have been very badly treated by the United States customs.
And Israelis are still disciminated against by the US as being “from teh middle East” except for one country, Saudi Arabia.
I don’t understand how a Jew can say they “love” Germany. Led by the Germans, the soil of Europe is dripping with Jewish bllod.
The Eurozone is not “about to collapse”. That is a very Ameican type of headline. It has probllems albeut that the Euro is still stronger than the dollar which HAS been in a state of collapse for ten years now.
But all this was not my point.
Europe is culturally more aligned with Israel than the US – just live here for a while and you will see for yourself.
Europe is Israel’s largest trading partner.
And there are many more Europeans who tour Israel than Americans.
Israeli go to Europe far more often than America – especially to Italy.
Atttides in Israel are very European without the puritanical attitudes found in the US. A lot of the music played on radio in Israel would cause an uproar in the US.
And generally fashion is very European as well as the cafe society and even the type of coffee drunk.

So I finally got that first video to work… and it made me LOL to know that she works for the LAUSD. That pretty much discredits anything she says before she even opens her mouth.
I’ve never seen any entity do so little good with so much money in my life as the LAUSD. And the fact that this woman is a complete and utter moron yet I’m sure is pretty much guaranteed a job for life because of tenure. I would bet 1000% that she says things like this in her classes.

Israeli people tend to stay closer to Europe in spite of the terrible heritage. This is my impression at least and I am not surprised. After all large majority of Israeli upper class is from German and Polish descent and young people look like more mediterranean than Californian or Texan.
Do not necessarily put this on politics. Give a look at Tel Aviv young people aspect and tastes.

I think Andrea it depends who you talk to.
I know from livig in NYC that “working like a Mexican” is a common derogatory phrase.
Also there is very little to no mixing of ethic or language or race grouos in NYC. In NYC there are language ghettos and within the language ghettos there are national ghettos.
Its not a violent thing mostly, just a chosen separation.
There are doomsday projections such as Pat Buchanan’s latest book, which is written from a Christian conservative perspective and sees the collapse of the US into a sort of social Balanisation although not a collapse politically.
One way of another the United States is changing and will have changed significantly when it eventually geets through its current issues.
I do think the US of pre-2001 is gone for good and that the US as we knew it from Reagan through to the end of Clinton is gone for good. The result is a weakened Amerca that has been debilitated through massive government spending, a virulent materialism and a self-belief that has shown itself to be irrational.
Difficult choices will have to be decided as Americans realize that the laws of physics also apply to them.
The biggest tragedy in this was that it moved from the nation of Apollo and self-reliance to a nation of dependence on Soyuz and self-sacrifice. That is why it is where it is today.
This sel-immolation is sad to watch BECAUSE all of America’s problems have been self-inflicted and cognitive dissonance is still rampant.

And Andrea right up into the 1970’s there was anti-semitism on the stocckbroking, investment banking side and in corporate America. So Jewish forms such as Goldman Sachs were founded. America’s likes to forget this.
