I’ve been debating with myself since last night whether or not to post this. To say that the images in the video, captured by cellphone by one of the Hamas militants and proudly shipped around for viewing, are disturbing is beyond the understatement of the year. I decided to post it for three reasons.
First and foremost to underscore why there should be and can be no negotiations with Hamas and why the Hamas regime cannot be considered legitimate in any way.
Second, I think it gives a glimpse into the fear that the average person living in Gaza must be dealing with as they cower in their homes and see such brutal acts taking place on their streets –and, if they are a Fatah supporter, wonder if they will be next.
And thirdly, if I hear one more word about Israeli brutality. Our soldiers have never, ever, ever done anything even remotely in the ballpark of something like this. Not in Gaza, not in the West Bank, not in Lebanon, nowhere. We do not kidnap people from their homes and then throw them alive off rooftops. We do not intentionally try to kill little children. We do not kick people to death in the streets and we do not kick them to death in private. We play in a whole different playground folks. And we sure as hell don’t treat our fellow citizens in this way. For those who want to claim that Israel is the most horrible, violent and oppressive regime in the history of the planet, this video invites you to get some perspective.
So I’m posting it. WARNING: The images in the video are extremely graphic. The video depicts Hamas men beating and kicking to death a Fatah man on the streets of Gaza. Watch at the risk of your lunch and mental health.

[...] Okay, so Yael has done the brave thing and posted that video. I’m glad she has because it saved me posting it. [...]
[...] Yeah, arresting someone and holding them safe and alive behind bars is a far greater act of terrorism than THIS. I’m mean, geez there is just no comparison. [...]
I didn’t have the stomach to actually watch the video. I had read about it before and it is sickening.
But our peace partner, Abbas, thinks that Hamas are acting as bad as Israel now. Forget the world - this is the man behind Olmert’s ‘new opportunity’!!!
It can only get worse before it gets better!

Well, in 1984 several operatives from the Shin Bet, allegedly acting on orders given by the then head of the agency, beat two captured Palestinian terrorists to death in the aftermath of the “Bus 300″ hijacking. But when the facts became known, it created a major scandal in Israel and even though all of the personnel involved eventually received presidential pardons, I suspect (and certainly hope) a similar incident isn’t likely to happen in Israel again.
No country is perfect or sinless, least of all mine (the USA). What separates Israel from Gaza is that in Israel there are ethical, legal, and political norms that make things like the Bus 300 killings aberrant, while in Gaza kicking a man to death is all too normal, an all too predictable result of the culture of bloodlust nurtured for decades by much of the Palestinian leadership.
