This just makes me seeth. If academics (or anyone else for that matter) is really serious to boycott all things Israeli, let them give up their mobile phones, their computers, half the medical technology in their hospitals, not to mention solar power units/irrigation technology ( I could go on ad nausem). It is not only in Britain, though it seems the British academia tries hard to be in the limelight.
What these people obviously haven’t noticed yet is that outside of their little ivory towers less and less people take them seriously any more. There were times when you could be proud of telling people “I am an university professor.” Today, especially if your subject is in the humanities field, you better be ready to get this reaction: “Ah yeah? Too bad you never had a real job.”
