While you’re at it, check your filter. If the filter is in a bag, the bag should have an expiration date. If the filter is on the mask, and it’s a couple of years old, I’d get another filter. Check the mask for cracks in the rubber or plastic parts. It wouldn’t hurt to go ahead and adjust the mask straps to your head, when you need it is not the time to be fiddling with straps. Put it on and cover the filter intakes with your hand, then suck air into your lungs. If the mask seals and scrunches down on your face, good. If not, tighten the straps. If that still doesn’t do the trick, turn it in for a new one. Of course, biological or chemical agents may kill you anyway these days if they get on your skin, but still….
When I was in the Marines, no one actually carried a mask in the gas mask case. The carry case strapped to your leg, and usually people kept food, or tobacco, something of that nature, in there if they were forced to wear it. Times have changed though.

Oh shit – I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to pass my “plague” on to you Do you need some chicken soup or something to help you get through it? The only comforting thing I can tell you is that, nasty as it was, for me at least it went away pretty quickly. Of course it got replaced by the usual post-viral asthma I get after every cold, which is usually much worse than the cold itself, but that’s another story – hopefully the asthma part I didn’t pass on to you

Someone from Homefront Command came by our apartment a few weeks ago and picked up our masks. We are currently maskless. Very depressing that next time we pick up new masks we also need to get one for our little baby. Sad.

Harry –yikes, that is a depressing thought. But yo, your little Tzofia is one of the most beautiful babies I’ve ever seen (via the pics) and I’ll take a little one like that with gas mask to match any day rather than no little one to get a mask for.
