with the boys. Blogger boys, that is. There is a bloggers conference tomorrow and on Monday (see Israelity for details) and tonight as I was busily cleaning my apartment, toastily dressed in no less than two sets of sweat outfits, I got a call. Yo, it is Michael (J. Totten) and we’re in Herzliya and bored out of our minds, wanna go out and do something? Uh well, yeah! Especially when he mentioned that a very kewl (and he turned out to be even way more kewl in person) Lebanese blogger, on his very first trip to Israel, was also coming along. So like, yalla, I threw on real clothes and left the house to its somewhat cleaner self.

I find my way by braille to anyplace and everyplace and it is rare that I remember the name of a spot or even the name of the street it is on –I just sort of remember where “that neat place we went 6 months ago” is and manage to find it. In fact, I couldn’t tell you the name of the street friends live on that I visit just about weekly. This makes life very difficult, however, when trying to suggest places to go or places to meet up, especially with people who have no clue at all about the city. We met up first at a spot close to my house at the port and had some food (quite good) and then I started calling round. Noorster was on the phone with someone else for ages and thus I couldn’t get through to get her good advice of where to head next. Idan and Tif were tired from their tiyul (sigh) and couldn’t think of anyplace good open on shabbat. Then Lisa answered my plea and, though also too tired to join, gave us an excellent tip and we were off to the first of two places (the first place was called MishMash, what the second was I couldn’t tell you but could get back there in a heartbeat, and probably will though not in a heartbeat :)

I’ll blog more tomorrow but I can say that I learned some really fascinating things (teaser: I found out that during the war with Hezbollah it is definitely not the case that mostly civilians were killed at all, but rather that a minimum of 850 people on record as being hezbollah militants were documented as being killed according to the Lebanese government’s own records and thus only a very small percent of those killed were civilians –in our news reports it is always reported that mostly civilians were killed, though the IDF has tried to refute this). Mostly though it was just really fun getting to hang and talk and learn about one another’s experiences.
