100 Palestinian prisoners in Israel receive Israeli University Degrees …and Gilad…?
From Ynet News
While kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit has been rotting in captivity for 1,136 days now, about 100 Palestinian security prisoners jailed in Israel received a first-level university degree this week from the Open University, which is recognized by Israel’s Council for Higher Education.
Some 250 additional security prisoners are currently studying at the Open University.
Some of the prisoners who have received a diploma or are still studying are affiliated with Hamas.
Security prisoners jailed in Israel enjoy further generous benefits, including hot water all day long, ventilators, a television with all Arab channels, and the option to borrow books from the prison library. In addition, each prisoner has a walkman, a radio and a budget for the jail’s canteen.
The security prisoners are allowed the send four letters a month and receive an unlimited number of letters. They are entitled to a family visit once every two weeks, and are allowed to have their picture taken by the prison’s photographer and to send the photo to their families.
Additional benefits include a daily morning exercise and regular medical treatments, including dental care and a visit by an optician.

well, it will make your European friends happy to see that Israel pampers those who would happily kill Jews, Americans or anyone else if they only could.
If one looks at the recent history of muslim terrorism one will find that -contrary to the perpetual myth- it usually are not the downtrodden and poor workers who build bombs and plan massacres (real workers don’t have time for that, they need to feed their families), but the intelligentsia, as they were called by the Soviets, the academic, wealthy elite. The 9/11 terrorists, for example, enjoyed life in Germany as students. In Britain lately it was medical doctors who planned to blow up an airport. And so on. An academic degree seems to be “de rigeur” for a decent terrorist.
So, if Israel now encourages more of these peaceful individuals to engage in studies and thus join the ranks of their educated terrorist friends, this probably must be called a humanitarian gesture. Who knows, one of them might be given a Nobel price some day, like their idol Jimmy Carter.
Sarcasm? What sarcasm?

Sir John – lol. Yeah, you hit it about right there. But actually the Europeans claim we shouldn’t be holding any palestinians in jail — committing or attempting to commit a terrorist attack (against Israelis/Jews) is not a reason to jail someone in their view.

Hmm, my older daughter wants to attend University in Israel. I should tell her to get sent to jail there instead. Looks like those prisnors have it better than many US college students have it.
Of course, if you listen to the UN or Eurpean press, all of those poor Palastinians, who were minding their own busness when kiddnapped by evil Israelis, are kept in dungens and fed only mouldy bread and slops.

Actually nobody of us knows under what circumstances Gilad Shalit is held into captivity.

I think that if Shalit was being treated well, Hamas would make that known in order to gain support. That is what they should do —actually treat him well—if they want to be considered to be less than terrorists.

Mongrel, exactly. His parents don’t know if he is alive or dead, sick or healthy. The Red Cross has never been allowed to visit him. It has been 3 years since he has had any form of human contact with any of his loved ones. He isn’t allowed letters. He doesn’t get a family visit every two weeks. No photographer comes to take pictures to send home for him. G-d knows what conditions he is being held in (though certainly if they are anything like the conditions that Hamas held the Foxnews reporters in, then he is in terrible shape), but they certainly aren’t humane ones.

Why in your opinion would Ynet show all of you and us abroad how Israel is treatening the Palestinian prisoners.

Israel needs to carpet bomb the Palestinians in Gaza until they release Shalit. Israel also needs to withdraw its Embassy staff from Washington DC and open up an embassy in New York City as a protest for the US embassy located in Tel Aviv. Finally, Israel needs to issue visas to all Palestinians and kick them out of Israel, and the Territories. Let them migrate to Washington DC or New York City.
