The bomb shelters in Tel Aviv and Rishon Letzion are being opened as of today as a contingency preparation in the event of rocket attacks on the heartland. Officials consider it possible that Hamas has in its possession rockets that can reach all the way to Tel Aviv.

I’m not planning on doing kitty air raid drills like I did in the 2nd Lebanon War (you can see pictures of the drill here with a step-by-step guide :) because my current apartment building doesn’t have a basement shelter. Not sure where the closest shelter lies but I won’t be heading there anyway as I’m not leaving the cats to fend for themselves in the face of a rocket. If rockets do strike here, I’ll just open up some nice wet food and crouch with the cats just at the entry to the front door of my apartment which is semi-protected by the stairs leaving up to the next floor and the furthest point away from windows.

Ahh life in Israel. Never dull, ya gotta give it that.
