Bloomberg outlaws food donations to homeless shelters in NYC!
This is nuts. Seriously, Bloomberg is nutty as a fruitcake. Restaurants, bakeries, and individuals can no longer donate surplus food to homeless shelters in New York City because “the city can’t assess their salt, fat and fiber content.”
Glenn Richter arrived at a West Side synagogue on Monday to collect surplus bagels — fresh nutritious bagels — to donate to the poor. However, under a new edict from Bloomberg’s food police he can no longer donate the food to city homeless shelters.
It’s the “no bagels for you” edict.
“I can’t give you something that’s a supplement to the food you already have? Sorry that’s wrong,” Richter said.
Richter has been collecting food from places like the Ohav Zedek synagogue and bringing it to homeless shelters for more than 20 years, but recently his donation, including a “cholent” or carrot stew, was turned away because the Bloomberg administration wants to monitor the salt, fat and fiber eaten by the homeless.

It’s almost ironic that Bloomburg is doing this while we are having the whole Obamacare discussion in the USSC. This reinforces why Obamacare needs to be struck down and clear limits of power on the commerce law enshrined into case law, because liberals, thinking they know better than everyone else will in fact inject themselves into everyone’s business. They think its their right to be able to dictate and regulate what everyone else does.
Thats how you get tremendous overreaches like this that just don’t make any sense on any level. When there is no limit to government power, government bureaucrats and politicians will strive to ever increase their power and execute their will. Its the same thing they accuse the evil capitolists of doing, only with power instead of money. Its greed cloaked in benevolence.

Bloomberg is one of the worst idiots under the sun. I quit working for the city after he came to power, it was just turning into a nuthouse. He is completely gaga about his environmento-nazism including his obsession with forcing everyone to eat what he eats.
My church in NYC gave lots of food to the homeless each week, so I guess those days are over now. New Yorkers need to get rid of this moron.

Ethan, excellent comment!! As Max Weber predicted over a hundred years ago, bureaucracies are dangerous. We see the stupidity and numerous problems caused by mindless, soulless bureaucracies, and we don’t need more of them.

Sir John, he really is unbelievably awful, isn’t he? What a complete idiot! What next? Is he going to examine the contents of dumpsters for their nutrition content? Perhaps he could put nutrition content labels on them. That should keep the bureaucrats busy.
