i do not know the exeactly feeling after i read this article, maybe sad for jewish people or for isareli people

it is absolutely not fair for israeli people,i say this from a objective standing point--i am a chinese

it is true ,all the universities r academic they r not connectted with political

and as for some british people's viewpoint ,they r just stupid and all these foolish ideas r not from all the british people, and u israeli people must believe that most of the british people ,they r as kind as u israeli people and friendly as u too.

so just don't be sad and angry, the god will give them a good lesson and the god will treat u very well.....

[...] “The Brits are at it again. (Like they’ve ever stopped). So British academics are again putting together a boycott of Israeli universities, Israeli professors, and Israeli students. Four Israeli academics went to meet with the boycott put-togetherers in the U.K. this week,” notes blogger Yael from Israel. [...]

Oh yeah, the intellectual elite of Great Britain at work again. Being an "academic" myself I often wondered how it could be that seemingly it is a prerequisite of belonging to the academic class to shed every ounce of common sense and to vehemently support anything even remotely anti-Israel, anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Western and anti-your-own-culture.
It is not only in Britain, though it seems the British academia tries hard to be in the limelight.

What these people obviously haven't noticed yet is that outside of their little ivory towers less and less people take them seriously any more. There were times when you could be proud of telling people "I am an university professor." Today, especially if your subject is in the humanities field, you better be ready to get this reaction: "Ah yeah? Too bad you never had a real job."

However, since in the time it took me to write this comment two more qassam missiles might have hit Sderot in this so "one-sided" conflict, it is no laughing matter when British academics act so stupidly, therefore I am with lynne and say, let's boycott them a while.

It makes me deeply regret having sent my daughter Junior Year Abroad to the UK. If I had been aware of the depth of the antisemitism there, I'd have sent her someplace else. Join me in boycotting all UK products and travel, folks.

This just makes me seeth. If academics (or anyone else for that matter) is really serious to boycott all things Israeli, let them give up their mobile phones, their computers, half the medical technology in their hospitals, not to mention solar power units/irrigation technology ( I could go on ad nausem). I'm not an Israeli, but even I know how much Israel contributes to intellectual property rights around the world. It makes me embarrassed that I graduated from a British University.

Kat --you are dreaming. There have already been numerous cases, without the boycott being officially in place, of academic journals in the U.K. refusing to accept or even send for review scholarly articles from Israelis. Several Israeli professors were kicked off the editorial board of at least one journal last year simply because they were ...Israeli jews.

now that I'm actually affiliated with an israeli university, and I've seen the quality of a lot of israeli academics I reckon this sort of boycott is a complete joke, and I don't think it is taken seriously by top notch academics in either Israel or Britain. I just can't see someone telling my hopefully soon to be supervisor that they won't work with him - he has such a name and reputation they would be shooting themselves in the foot to do so. but maybe I am dreaming...
