I am not typical. I am not your typical Aliyah candidate: I'm very secular, did not grow up in a zionist household, and have no family living in Israel. I'm not what people typically think of when they hear "Jewish": I have blond hair, blue eyes, and fair skin. I am not your typical American: I speak 2 1/2 languages, used to vote democratic (and I'm originally from the South!), and the last thing I want is a house in the suburbs. So what am I? In many ways, I'm a little bundle of contradictions. Stubborn yet not overly-opinionated (at least on most issues). Shy and reserved when I first meet someone but outgoing and bubbly once you get to know me. Practical but also fun-loving and spontaneous (in a practical kind of way, lol). I believe that I am a kind and caring person (hey, don't we all?). I am passionate about life and fiercely protective of those I love. And I'm crazy about my 3 5 6 cats. And the 40 or so I care for on the street.

latest in terrorist news

Obama pledges not to attack Al Qaeda terrorists in Pakistan.

It is a travesty that this ‘brilliant’ nuclear scientist will serve only 4 years in jail for helping Al Qaeda with the logistics of committing terrorists attacks.

A U.S. honors student is to serve 15 years for offering assistance to a woman who called herself “Jihad Jane” and supported a terror cell bent on waging a Muslim holy war in Europe.

Jihadi groups fired an RPG at Egyptian troops in the Sinai, injuring two soldiers.

The best Life of Julia parody

These guys got it goin’ on –and they were able to buy the domain name thelifeofjulia.com because the Obama administration was too stupid to realize that a) someone was going to jump on that bad boy (girl) and parody their Julia story and so they should have bought it up themselves b) their Julia story is already in laughable parody form as it is and it just screams out to be parodied more and c) The Life of Julia is definitely going to win the Dumbest and Most Inept Political Propaganda Schtick Award.

Craving: I’m going to have to make it

Ever have a craving for something you just can’t get? I’ve got a craving for something that can’t be shipped. It can’t be bought. It can’t be found here, there, or anywhere any longer (the place that sold it closed after the owner died). I’ve got a craving for the best damn pizza I’ve ever had in my life and it didn’t even have any tomato sauce. It was a “twice-baked potato pizza pie” sold at a little pizza place in Athens, Ohio.

It. Was. To. Die. For. Pizza.

Occupy FBI infiltrator uncovered Cleveland bomb plot

The Smoking Gun has the details. It was at the October 21 OWS event that the informant first met Douglas Wright, 26, who reportedly confided details of his group’s planned attacks “against corporate America and the financial system,” according to court filings.

The good news is that they clearly weren’t very bright. To wit, they planned on getting packets of tacks to throw out of their car if chased by cops because they saw it used as a tactic in a Batman movie. Given that, if I was their lawyer, my defense would be “but Judge, they have the mental age of a More >

Movie Star jailed in Egypt because roles he played in movies years ago”insulted Islam”

At 71 years of age, this guy has been one of Egypt’s top stars for decades. The roles he played in movies were all government approved –by the previous government that is. The new regime has sentenced him to jail now because the types of roles he played in movies years ago have now been deemed as “insulting to Islam” by the radical Islamists that have come into power. ` (CNN) — Every country has an unofficial doctrine — a mantra if you will. In America, it’s the “independent spirit.” In Germany, it’s the “no-nonsense work ethic.” In Egypt, well, in More >

Sharia comes to Russia

“You think that we are coming here as foreigners, but we believe that we are at home here and maybe you are the foreigners. We will make those laws that suit us, whether you like it or not, and any attempts to change that will lead to spilled blood. There will be a second dead sea here and we will drown the city in blood.”

Those were not the words of some back alley preacher, but of noted Moscow lawyer, Dagir Khasavov, giving an interview to a television station about his proposal to implement Sharia courts in Russia. Interspersed with footage More >

Solyndra trying to abandon toxic waste with no clean-up

Weasel Zippers gives the heads up on this. The un-clean Green way.

MILPITAS (CBS 5) — Three months ago, CBS 5 caught Solyndra tossing millions of dollars worth of brand new glass tubes used to make solar panels. Now the bankrupt solar firm, once touted as a symbol of green technology, may be trying to abandon toxic waste. . . .

Meanwhile the next phase of the company’s liquidation is under way. It involves getting rid of all the heavy metals left inside the building that were used to make the panels.

The Fremont Fire Department’s Jay Swardenski oversees the cleanup. He said some More >

My cats look like Pigpen on Charlie Brown

The weather has gone from freezy to gettin’ darn hot. I’ve packed away my winter coats. The cats are shedding theirs. I watched Muffin walking across the room and the sunlight highlighted literally little clouds of hair poofing off her body with every step. Remember Pigpen from Charlie Brown cartoons, where little clouds of dirt were constantly puffing off around him? Yeah, she looked like that. Now imagine all the cats in my house. The broom and mop are no match but constantly employed! I wish I could vacuum the cats!

Just how deeply has the Muslim Brotherhood infiltrated the U.S. government?

If you watch nothing else this year, watch this new documentary uncovering the extent to which the Muslim Brotherhood has infiltrated and is influencing the highest levels of government in the U.S., including those with long ties to the MB (and some with ties to now-convicted terrorists and to groups indicted for terrorism support) who are serving as advisers and in positions high up in executive branches, including Homeland Security.

ya can’t make this up

Imagine that you are a woman and have been kidnapped by two men literally just released from prison hours beforehand. Imagine that they beat the living hell out of you, handcuff you to a chair and threaten to gouge your eyes out if you don’t give them your ATM access code. Imagine that when one returns to report you don’t have any money in the account they begin the assault anew. You finally manage to lunge over and grab a dinner knife and stab one of the men in the chest, slightly injuring him. You manage to punch the other More >
